Advocacy is a big part of the mission of PFLAG, with members and supporters working to achieve LGBTQ+ equality through changing hearts, minds, and laws. We work at the community level, at the city and state level, and at the federal level to effect change so that people who are LGBTQ+ are safe and equal in their communities. One Voice Can Change the World: The PFLAG National Policy Guide and Advocacy Toolkit teaches about advocacy methods, ways to lobby, and PFLAG’s legislative priorities. This publication will also help you feel confident as you meet with your legislators, go to town halls, plan chapter events, advocate through social media, and more.
PFLAG
Broomfield Chapter
PFLAG is working to make sure that all people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer are not only valued by society, but take pride in and value themselves. We do this through providing peer-to-peer support, educating people on the issues that are important to the community, and advocating for inclusive policies and laws.
Need Support?
PFLAG IS HERE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT, INFORMATION, TOOLS, AND RESOURCES.
Regardless of how you identify in terms of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, PFLAG is here to support you and your family in your journey of discovery.
PFLAG started with families. For more than 40 years, we have been providing peer-to-peer support, publications, toolkits, and other resources to make sure that the family members of people who are LGBTQ get the support they need in the way that best serves their needs. This allows families to then further support, affirm, and advocate on behalf of their LGBTQ loved ones.
Whether you have a close friend who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender-expansive, or queer (LGBTQ), or don’t know someone personally but want to learn more about what it means to be an ally, PFLAG is here to support you on your ally journey.
About PFLAG Broomfield
Founded in 1972 with the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the original family and ally organization. Made up of parents, families, friends, and straight allies uniting with LGBT people, PFLAG is committed to advancing equality through its mission of support, education and advocacy. Now in its 40th anniversary year, PFLAG has more than 368 chapters and 200,000 supporters crossing multiple generations of American families in major urban centers, small cities, and rural areas in all 50 states.
What is PFLAG?
We, the parents, families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, celebrate diversity and envision a society that embraces everyone, including those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Only with respect, dignity and equality for all will we reach our full potential as human beings, individually and collectively. PFLAG welcomes the participation and support of all who share in, and hope to realize this vision.
