PFLAG Speaks at Broomfield High

PFLAG Broomfield was invited to speak with the Broomfield High School Alliance Club on Feb 20, 2020.

PFLAG Broomfield had a great informal round table discussion with the students at BHS to hear firsthand about the specific issues that they find important in their lives, as well as to share experiences from PFLAG Board members, and provide some historical perspective on the struggles, victories and ongoing issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

PFLAG’s mission of support, education, and advocacy guides our work. Having input from the community to understand their unique needs is critical to our success in our mission. As we work to ensure a community where its members feel safe and secure (no matter where they live, work, study, pray or play) and where all LGBTQ+ members are not only valued by our community, the input received from students is vital to the future of our mission.

We want to thank the students and faculty who took time out of their day and lunch period to engage in discussion with us. We look forward to continuing the dialogue. Working together with students on future events that will help Broomfield to be a place where difference is celebrated and all people are valued and included regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
